SNOLAB is an international facility for world-class underground physics research and has an expanding programme in astroparticle physics and underground science. Located in an air-conditioned clean room 2 km underground in the Vale Creighton Mine near Sudbury Ontario, with a suite of surface facilities and laboratories, SNOLAB is currently preparing for the next generation of experiments.
SNOLAB is filling two full-time indeterminate positions.
Within his or her designated area, the SNOLAB Project Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of major projects. This full-time position requires liaison with user groups during an experiment's development phase and then coordinating between users, facility groups and contractors during construction and installation phases of projects. The position will be responsible for managing project schedules, conveying information required to ensure an experiment can be built underground (this includes reviews of proposed experiment designs) and ensuring an experiment meets SNOLAB’s and regulatory standards. Additionally, the position will conduct budget reviews, procurement, tender package issuing, coordinating resources required to facilitate installation and guide projects through SNOLAB internal processes. Projects could include the installation of laboratory infrastructure or the assembly of an experiment.
International travel may be required.
A degree in engineering.
Registration as a professional engineer in the province of Ontario or within Canada
PMP accreditation would be an asset
Significant experience in project management, with demonstrated experience in budget development and verification and creating project time lines.
Experience with structural, electrical or civil design would be an asset
Experience supervising contractors or technicians would be an asset.
Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience and includes an attractive benefits package. To meet operational needs, shift work may be required.
