About Us 

SNOLAB is an international facility for world-class underground physics research and has an expanding programme in astroparticle physics and underground science. Located in an air-conditioned clean room 2 km underground in the Vale Creighton Mine near Sudbury Ontario, with a suite of surface facilities and laboratories, SNOLAB is currently preparing for the next generation of experiments focusing on neutrino studies and the search for galactic dark matter. 


The Position 

The Cleaner Maintainer will provide: 

High quality cleaning and light maintenance services for SNOLAB underground laboratory areas and clean-room laboratories and the surface building including its clean- room laboratories. This will include cleaning at heights utilizing ladders, elevating scissor work platforms, and one-person man-lifts. Provide dedicated entire surface wipe downs of materials entering the underground lab. 

Light maintenance. 

Collecting/sealing/packaging of waste bags for shipping, doing laundry, moving furniture, equipment and supplies within the labs and similar lab upkeep. 

All tasks require lifting, carrying and moving/arranging items while walking, standing, stooping, crawling and kneeling. 

Produce and complete administrative records for receipt/cleaning and processing of articles entering the underground SNOLAB. 




Candidate shall have a minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent.



Experience in custodial like duties; 

Experience in equipment/construction/fabrication work; 

Experience in commercial/institutional building cleaning. 


Salary Range 

Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience and includes an attractive benefits package. Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with SNOLAB policies. This position is covered by the Collective Agreement between the SNOLAB Institute and the United Steelworkers Local 2020. To meet operational needs, shift work may be required.
