About Us

SNOLAB is an international facility for world-class underground physics research and has an expanding programme in astroparticle physics and underground science. Located in an air-conditioned clean room campus 2 km underground in the Vale Creighton Mine near Sudbury Ontario, with a suite of surface facilities and laboratories, SNOLAB is currently preparing for the next generation of experiments focusing on neutrino studies and the search for galactic dark matter.

 

­The Position

Project Managers at SNOLAB lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver experiment development and construction projects to meet mission needs within critical technical, time and budgetary constraints.  Projects include experiment detector installations, supporting infrastructure and utilities, and facility infrastructure and improvements.  The projects are administrated through a Lifecycle process using best-practice project management methodologies and tools.  The Project Managers are responsible for management of project budgets, schedules, documentation and reporting to SNOLAB management and external stakeholders.

Successful Project Managers at SNOLAB will require:

- Proficient use of professional project management processes, tools and documentation to create and maintain budgets and resource loaded schedules;

- Developing WBS structures, scopes of work, and basis of estimate costing;

- Creating and managing construction contracts;

- Efficient and effective oral and written communication with scientists, SNOLAB management, project coordinators, engineers, technologists, vendors, and contractors;

- Ability to assess and manage risks to budgets, schedules, people, and equipment;

- Analyzing and reporting project status using critical path analysis, simulation, and earned value management;

- Ensuring equipment and installations meet scientific specifications, quality standards, best practices for in health and safety, and all applicable codes and regulations;

- Interfacing to SNOLAB management, stakeholders and resources to deliver SNOLAB projects;

- National and international travel as required.

 

Criteria

­Education:

A B.Eng. or B.S. degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline is required;

Certified as a Professional Engineer of Ontario is a considerable asset;

Project Management Professional accreditation is an asset.

 

Experience:

Experience as a project manager demonstrating the ability to plan and deliver projects;

Demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary project teams;

Experience with large science and/or international projects considered an asset;

Field experience managing execution and construction of projects is a considerable asset.

 

Salary Range

Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience and includes an attractive benefits package. Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with SNOLAB policies.
